Fire protecion with BIMprove

Details

What is our goal

Detect fire hazard and support fire brigades

Desired Impact

Reduced number of accidents on construction sites. Indicating the exact position of the fire, materials, risk areas and even access to the fire.

What challenge we face

In building construction sites, fire can cause major complications and additional expenses and in the worst case personal damage. The official evacuation routes are only established, when the building is completed. In construction time, routes may not exist, or blocked, etc. Fire can start any time, due to construction activities, fire detectors are not yet set up.

How BIMprove will be utilized

BIMprove stores material properties in BIM and carries out a risk assessment for the given construction task. If the risk isabove a threshold, BIMprove will order ground mobile robots to continuously monitor the task execution/security etc. BIMprove has a 100% up-to-date description of the building, which can be used by emergency planning for fire brigades.

Fall Prevention with BIMprove

What is our goal

Prevention of falling and training for workers.

Desired Impact

Reduced number of accidents on construction sites. The worker will get instant information about activities, risks that may affect today's work plan. This is presented to the worker when entering the construction site and through BIM@Wearable.

What challenge we face

Construction sites have multiple teams working simultaneously and, in many cases, not aware of each other and what the other team is doing. Activities may affect removing safety barriers, protective grids or cordons, which is important for other team's safety.

How BIMprove will be utilized

BIMprove can provide all details necessary for the worker. BIMprove knows the scheduling of the construction site and can highlight for the workers, where there will be changes in safety related barriers. Workers can study today's plan and get training of the given schedule, with respect to safety. Based on location data, it can notify the worker if there is a chance that her or his work in such territory.

What is our goal

Demonstrate usability of BIMprove in scheduling and cost calculations.

Desired Impact

Better scheduling forecast, better allocation of resources and optimization of equipment usage, and reduction of costs on constructions projects.

What challenge we face

The construction of a larger building requires complex planning. An initial planning can be carried out on the basis of a BIM representation of the building. A wide variety of events, such as weather related work stoppages, delivery delays, errors in construction work, etc., however, require ongoing rescheduling that is adapted to current needs.

How BIMprove will be utilized

BIMprove has a layer service which, based on the current building situation, reschedules human and material resources. Using BIMprove’s notification and visualization processes, all parties involved in the construction process can be promptly notified about changes in the plan. This largely prevents over- or under-allocation and conditions that further delay construction work. Furthermore, adaptive planning of the further construction is possible, based on the current situation and a “what if' analysis” can be done to support scheduling options. As rescheduling has direct influence on cost of the building process the outputs of the rescheduling will be used in the cost layer to recalculate resulting cost.
